The following error message appears when try moving emails to different folders or mailboxes in Microsoft Outlook 2013 with ESET NOD32 Antivirus:
"Cannot move the item. The operation cannot be performed beause the message has been changed."
Apparently NOD32 seems to be the culprit. I didn't go into the details why this happens, but the following solved the problem:
1. Go to the ESET tab in the ribbon and click Scanner setup.
2. Two windows will open: the main ESET window, which can be ignored, and the advanced setup. In the latter, disable Repeat scan after update.
3. Restart Outlook.
